Northwestern University. A difficult school to get into with an acceptance rate of 9% and one of the best media schools in the nation. Also their hospital Northwestern Memorial Hospital is a nationally ranked academic center with it being the #1 hospital in the state of Illinois.
These are solid reasons to choose Northwestern if you're debating on coming to the school, but what is there to do where the university currently sits; Evanston Illinois a city 30 mins away from Chicago's downtown area.
Northwestern has a variety of things to do off campus as well as on campus.
On campus you can visit places such as the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art aka the Block Museum, and the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion, Norris Aquatics Center, and Combe Tennis Center.

Usually the block museum is free and open to all, but during covid it is currently closed to the public. However you can still experience the museum without actually being in the museum, through Northwestern's virtual programs which are free and open to all.
You can witness post-screening discussions with a film maker or scholar in Block Cinema; performances inspired by A Feast of Astonishments: Charlotte Moorman and the Avant-Garde, 1960s-1980s exhibit; Art + Engineering Interviews, and more!
You can find find out more about the Best of the Block through the link.
At the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art, art isn't just art; it's also life, education and innovation.

The Henry Crown Sports Pavilion, sits right in front of Lake Michigan, offering many different forms of workout classes such as Zumba, HIIT, Cardio Kickboxing and Yoga, and a track that runs alongside Lake Michigan.
However this is only accessible to Northwestern students, staff and faculty due to corona.
The university is also a very lively city with a wonderful collection of nightlife nearby. Places such as SPACE and The Rhythm Room are all a part of Evanston's nightlife collection.

Evanston SPACE is a small concert hall and venue for music performance only .6 miles away from the University, but according to Google Maps is a 37 minute drive, but Google isn't always right.
There's no age limit for SPACE and they're currently offering virtual concerts during the pandemic.
They also offer outdoor events such as 'Campfire Corral', 'Space Summer Stage', 'Pumpkin Patch', 'Out of Space' and 'To-Go Concerts'.
So this isn't only a great night life option but day life too!
WARNING: There's a bar so drink responsibly.

The rhythm room is a bar and bistro located four minutes away from the university campus.
However, when you click on the link to the website, it sends you to Cinemark Theaters and not the actual website.
The Rhythm Room features, jazz blues, drinks, and food, making it the perfect option, if wondering what to do in a night in Evanston.
Now after all this jazzing or jamming and you want to grab a bite to eat at a place that's not technically quiet but not around loud music, then you can find yourself at Lou Mal Nati's, Tapas Barcelona or Kizin Creole Restaurant. Or if you're looking for just a quick grab and go there's also a Subway Chipotle and Blaze Pizza near the Northwestern campus too.
Lou Mal Nati's is only three minutes away and serves Chicago's famous deep-dish pizza.
Sometimes you may get a good experience sometimes you may not, but something about the restaurant will still have you coming back for more.
However, Evanston also has a fantastic variety of ethnic foods in the city.
Evanston's Spanish restaurant, Tapas Barcelona, is only one minute away from the university.
Here you can find a variety of foods such as, Patatas Alioli, Aguacate con Cangrejo, Datilles a la Sevillana, Croquetas del dia and Farfalle con Pollo, Setas y Tomate, which all sound delicioso.
Evanston also steps it up when it comes to their creole food. Kizin Creole is a bit farther than Tapas with it being an eight minute drive, but it'll be one worth it drive.
You can order Oxtails, Haitian meatballs, Legim, Tilapia, Mac & Cheese, Rice & Beans, Plantain Sandwich and Griyo (fried pork).
For a city in a larger city, that was founded by a Haitian man, Jean Baptiste Point Du Sable, it's nice to see a Haitian restaurant taking root near the city.
Northwestern is a very nice school that anybody would be lucky to go to; the location just makes it that much better.
