2021 NCAA champions, Baylor University! Located in Waco, Texas, an hour and 30 minutes away from Austin, Arlington and Dallas Texas and almost a three hour drive away from Houston and San Antonio. However you may not want to travel that far in order to determine whether the school is right for you or not, so today I'll be exhibiting what's there to do near the university in Waco Texas.

Just like UChicago and Northwestern university, Baylor also has fun things to do on campus, such as visiting the 'Mayborn Museum Complex'

Here you can see things such as fossils from the cretaceous sea period, as during this time a good chunk of Texas was under shallow sea; a humpback whale skull, mammoth fossils, homes utilized by local people in the 19th century and a Paw Patrol and hands on experiences in the discovery centers that appeal to multi-generational families.

Tickets are sold on the museum website for $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids (2-12) and $6.00 for seniors (65+).

However that's not the only museum on campus, you can also visit the 'Martin Museum of Art'.

At this museum admission is free, every single day! You can witness art created by Baylor's very own students in the student shows and BFA Senior Exhibition.

You can also find other art exhibitions that stream online on their website in order to lessen the crowds due to covid.

Also if you do decide to go their and take art classes, there's a possibility that you will have a lesson in the museum itself.

There's also more museums outside of the university's campus such as the Dr Pepper Museum.

The museum is located four minutes away from Baylor University and you don't need a reservation in order to enter the museum, nor do they sell tickets online so you have to purchase them upfront.

At this unique soda museum you can taste test sodas unique from those usually sold in stores and you can even make your own soda for an additional cost at the museum. They even have Paranormal Tours which allows you to tour through old parts of the Dr Pepper building that have witnesses paranormal activity, but in order to participate you must be 18 or older and sign a waiver indicating that you understand the various hazards that come with touring the old building.

When it comes to pricing for the museum:

General Admission - $10

Kids 4 and under - Free

Students and Children - $6

College students with ID - $6

Seniors (65+) - $8

Military with ID - $8

Educators with ID - $8

However they're not only museums in the Texas city of Waco, you can also visit the beautiful Cameron Park and Zoo, which is about eight minutes away from the campus.

The 416-acre park features a zoo, stunning bluffs looking over the Brazos and Bosque river and a national recreation trail system.

The admission to the park is free but in order to enter the zoo you're going to have to cough up $12.50 for those who are 13 and up and $9.50 for children 3-12 years old.

You can find black bears, otters, mountain lions, bald eagles, rhinos, elephants, African lions, alligators, jaguars and more.

On average it'll take about three hours to go around the entire zoo, which will work up an appetite if you haven't stopped along your path for some ice cream.

There are some well known restaurants such as Texas Roadhouse in Waco but you can also visit Kitok's, George's, Poppa Rollo's Pizza and Cupp's Drive-In.

Kitok's is about nine minutes away from Baylor University and offers foods such as chicken fried steak, fried shrimp, fried fish, mandu, steak finger, hamburger, club sandwhich and bulgogi. They also have a kids menu for those with little ones in the group.

George's is a little bit closer to the University with it being a five minute drive and offers fried pickles (yum!), fried jalapenos, fried mushrooms, nachos, fresh raw & charbroiled oysters, stuffed potatoes, burgers, hot dogs, both grilled & fried chicken, philly cheese-steak, pulled pork, cobbler and sundaes.

Poppa Rollo's is about a nine minute drive from the campus and offer nachos, pizza bread, salad, focaccia, chicken wings, specialty pizzas and custom pizzas. You also have the option of having a gluten free pizza for those who can't or don't eat gluten.

Cupp's Drive-In is the closest one of them all with it being four minutes away from the university. Here you can get some breakfast such as pancakes, eggs, waffles, toasts, bacon, sausage, pretty much traditional break fast items. You can also get hamburgers, french fries, sandwiches, salads, chicken nuggets and a kids menu for the little ones.

Waco Texas seems like an interesting and fun place to visit giving that added charm to Baylor University, and we all know what they, "A school is only as good as their basketball team" - Alana DeRose.
