On February 19, 2021, Six Flags Great America announced on their social media sites that they will be opening up their dry park to the public on April 24, 2021.
Many fans were very happy to hear this, as last year Six Flags was only able to get their water park approved for opening to the public, so this means that Great America hasn't been able to run their roller coasters since 2019, and for all the people whom claim this as their home park has been struggling as one fan commented "I've been having roller coaster withdrawals and need this to happen!!"
However even with them being able to open up the park nothing changes.
Six Flags is still requiring reservations for everyone from ticket holders, to members, in order to be allowed in the park.
"We will have an online reservation system to allow for staggered guest arrival at a reduce capacity.", SFGA said as a reply to a fan's question.
Six Flags has also replied to another comment stating "Reservations will go online once we receive final approval from state and local officials."
So this opening isn't a 100% certainty, but the possibility of it happening is still higher than 50%.
Now if or when Six Flags does open up, and you yourself are able to get into the park, no matter where you are, on the rides or off the rides, you'll have to where a mask throughout the time on the Six Flags property.
However the park knows this can start to irritate some guest, so they've built in place mask break zones, where mask wearing won't be as enforced as other areas in the park.
Also Great America has their new mobile food ordering feature up and running, so you can basically order food from any restaurant any where in the park, and you can go pick it up once it's ready.
Six Flags has said themselves "Social distancing is a key component of our operations. By utilizing Mobile Food Ordering, guests will spend significantly less time in food lines and more times enjoying their visit."
So when you want to enjoy some theme park food you won't have to be worried about standing too close to others to do so.
Also unlike the last year's holiday in the park, Six Flags didn't open up any of their rides even though their dry park was open, but in April every single ride will be open with new safety features put in place to ensure social distancing while waiting in line and riding the ride, and yes you will have to wear a mask on the ride.
Great America is just as excited to see us as we are to see them.
"We cannot wait to see you soon."
