College Season: Stanford University

A school that calls themselves the Cardinals but uses a tree as it’s mascot; Stanford University, located in Stanford California and 33 minutes away from San Francisco.


So you can visit San Fran. if you want to but there are other fun things to do that are much closer such as the Stanford Shopping Center.


simon.com Stanford Shopping Center is located three minutes away from Stanford University and is eight minutes if you decide to walk.

This Simon mall features luxurious stores such as Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Tiffany, Burberry and Coach.


You also have lululemon, Lids, Levi, Macy, Nordstrom, PINK, Pottery Barn, Ray-Ban, Sephora and a Stanford Merch store.

However if shopping isn’t really your thing but movies are then you can visit the Stanford Theatre.


Stanford Theatre is a 96 year old theater located two minutes away from the university and wants to bring back "the authentic movie going experience of Hollywood's Golden Age," (1920's - 1960's).


With this purpose you can watch classic golden age movies starring actors such as Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart.


Tickets to the theater are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors (65 & older) and youth (18 & younger).


You can indulge in more fun history by visiting the Computer History Museum.



The Computer History Museum is located 12 minutes away from Stanford University.


The museum strives to aid in technological progress as well as human progress through insights shared from their research, events and "incomparable collection of computing artifacts and oral histories to convene, inform, and inspire people to build a better world."


The museum is currently closed for visitations and tours but when it does open up admission prices are as shown:



However, if you're looking for some Cali outdoor fun you can visit the Baylands Nature Preserve.



Baylands Nature Preserve is located 10 minutes away from the campus, offering 15 miles of beautiful water front views on the San Francisco Bay.


It's also considered one of the best bird watching areas on the west coast with a considerable population of birds.


This nature preserve also has amenities such as a golf course, open space maps, nature interpretive center, picnic tables, bicycle trails, walking trails, restrooms and picnic tables.


One things for sure you'll need some fuel to help get throughout the walk, so you can pick up some food at restaurants such as The Axe & Palm (TAP), Coupa Cafe, Tootsie's At The Stanford and Beckman Bistro.



The Axe & Palm aka TAP is located right on the Stanford campus offering a happy hour lineup, boba tea, late night specials and healthy options.




The Coupa Cafe is a popular choice of eats by Stanford students and has four locations on the Stanford property.


The cafe serves coffee (of course), hot chocolate, tea, smoothies, cold brew, frappes, boba tea, soft drinks, salads, pastries, paninis, wraps, crepes, tacos, quesadillas, pasta, arepas and breakfast food such as bagels and waffles.

Tootsie's At The Stanford Barn is an Italian cafe located three minutes away from the university, right near the Stanford Shopping Center.


This cafe is only open from 7am - 2pm Monday through Friday and is closed on Saturday and Sunday, only offering breakfast and lunch.


Some of the items on the menu are croissants, muffins, bombolini, zeppole, tiramisu, pollone, salads, soups, "Tootsie's Burger" and paninis.




Beckman Bistro is located right on the campus and is temporarily closed.


However, when it does reopen you can indulge in burrito bowls, burritos, wraps, salads, tacos, sandwiches and breakfast foods. You could create your own meal with any of these items, just like you would at Chipotle.
